Today I want to share with you, about a book which by God’s divine hand I have been able to participate in by being on the launch team. Let me just say, God knows just which books need to land in my hands. This is one has done 3 things:
- stopped me in my tracks
- brought waves of relief & understanding
- blessed me with a new level of joy (probably a byproduct of the second!)
PS: You may want a tissue. It will move you.
New Reality Book Review
The book starts out with a bang with a quote by Martin Luther. Sitting in my chair, I reread that thing three times. YES!!!! Have you ever read a quote that described how you felt or what you believed, or summed up something you had been trying to put words to for so long?
Right away, the tone of this book is set when you read Martin Luther’s quote. It helps us grasp God’s loving nature and prepares the table for what’s next.
I read the first chapter twice, that is how good and deep it was. Not deep in the sense I couldn’t understand and had to backtrack. Good and deep in the sense that I needed to hear the words again. Remember, what I experienced when reading this was relief and understanding.
Lisa walks closely with God and the Holy Spirit has revealed much to her, and she is such a talented writer that she explains things in a way that makes so much sense. Any doubt or uncomfortableness I may have previously felt weight down by feels defeated by the truth that rang from these pages.
Through various stages of my life I have become freed from certain strongholds, and then God gently and graciously helps me become free in another area.
The closer I walk with Him, I see his mercy extended over and over again. Over the past few months I have been blessed to receive a handful of books which have contributed to breaking down some more walls. This book is by far my favorite so far.
Lisa Young really is what she describes as an ordinary girl living extraordinarily. It can be the same for all of us and that is why she wrote this!
It is my number #1 recommendation this year.
Some favorite quotes by Lisa Young
“As we yield to our faith, the Spirit is able to reveal our
true identity or who God created us to be. We experience
the fullness of Christ when we know who we are and what
God created us to do in His kingdom.”
“We overcome our
flesh and live out of our new nature when we walk according
to the Spirit. He teaches us how to do life God’s way—the
way He intended for us to operate. Our works, the things
we do, become the complete handiwork of God—divinely
prompted, dependent on Him, and in His strength.”
“Our lives become a living gospel.”
“The Spirit prepares our heart for the
kingdom of heaven.”
How New Reality Has Impacted Me
Some of you may be aware of October’s Write 31 Days Challenge where I wrote about anxiety issues, it was my desire to share about The Dwelling Place God has whispered to me through scripture. That when someone needs to be calmed down or needs reassurance, they have to shift their focus away from the problem and onto hope.
What I love about Lisa’s book is that she writes truth which empowers rather than simply from a human point of view, or even scripture cut out and laid out of context. No, New Reality really helps us to learn we were made for a new reality — not just for heaven, but starting now!
If you have ever felt like there was more to life, like your insides were capable of more right here and right now — this book is for you.
I thought how awesome is God that after a month long of writing poetry about refocusing on God’s truths and letting him abide inside of me at all times, that this book would come to be at such a time as this. Perfect!
“Not only does He prompt us, but also He
empowers us. His presence is a habitation, not just visitation.” – Lisa
God is using authors of faith to disciple me and I walk around my house hearing the truth over and over again in my head, more than the negative and worry I was dealing with before. Yes this comes from spending daily time in the word and in constant prayer too, but He really is using people like Lisa to help me grow as a follower of Christ.
A New Perspective
“From our perspective, transformation feels like a process, but from God’s perspective, it is (already) complete.
He is looking at us from an eternal perspective through the
blood of Christ. We have an opportunity to come into agreement
with God and live like His promises are true. When
our eyes are focused on who we are in Christ, that is who
we become. In this way, the struggle with the flesh naturally
becomes less and less.
In order to experience this transformation, it is essential we quit focusing on our sins.
It is essential that when we realize that we have fallen short, we turn and fully receive God’s forgiveness.” – Lisa
And I have long thought this. My mind doesn’t understand how Jesus has that much power to have died so long ago and yet already have my issues covered. I often times still feel the need to try and help him out with myself and my husband. When I am in the fleshly realm of thinking, I forget Jesus = God. I forget that God loves me more than I can know.
Recently, I let my words go too far instead of just taking my annoyances to God first. I realized what I had done, and instead of staying frustrated at myself, I quickly handed it over to God in prayer and praised him for being so patient with me as I grow.
I was then filled with joy!
I see more and more why the enemy wants us to bathe in our doubts and distress, our mistakes and other’s mistakes. Because when we do there is no room left to remember how great is our God. But this book helps us to see how great he is and how much he wants to be a part of our lives on Earth.
This book will get you up out of your seat. Your step may quicken, your countenance lift. I dare you to buy it and see if you are not changed for the better. Grab a copy here.
