I am so honored to have been able to be a part of Crytal Stines’s Holy Hustle launch team. When she first began talking about this idea, I was stoked. My heart needed this message, and now it’s here. You all should know, Crystal is so Biblically empowering, if I can say that. As a passionate person who struggles with balance (#creativebrain) she gets me. I remember when I saw her Holy Hustle vision board on Pinterest. I was like, “We can do that? Good idea!” Maybe her words can help steer your heart too.
I have learned so much from her and it is a joy to be able to share more about her work of art today, which releases tomorrow, June 5th, 2018. But remember, if you pre-order today there may be some goodies to go along with! Just check out www.holyhustlebook.com.
Oh, yall…for the sake of brevity I will narrow all the good stuff down for you or we just might be here all day.
Why? Because I can talk about this subject for days. First off, Crystal Stine is one of those people you just fall in love with right away. Her warm, friendly demeanor and enthusiastic-about-life attitude will hook you and you’ll find yourself stalking her Instagram. Okay maybe that was a strong use of verbiage but you get me. This book was written for people like us who love to work hard but need that rest. It’s for those who feel bad about one way or another and need a friend who understands, from her own road to discovery. Below, I will share some #HolyHustle love, eh?
In her book, Holy Hustle, Crystal openly shares her own ten-year journey and some hardships along the way. She struggled through job loss and striving, hustle in every way imaginable only to find herself in this place of learning God was caring for the whole time and wanted to love her right where she was. Crystal says, “As God calls me closer to Himself, He’s revealing a version of hustle that looks a lot less impressive than the version I’d imagined.” I think this is one of my favorite lines in the entire book. As a wife, mom, and worker from the home — I needed this reminder that my actual life + work may not look as lovely as an edited podcast sounds. We live real lives with real dirty dishes, real needy and imperfect people, and homework. Yes, that stuff #whew.
Crystal’s book makes me let out a big sigh of relief and I hope it will you too. Whatever end of the spectrum you are on: Striving hard, finding it challenging to trust God if you don’t — or if you are needing to step out of your perpetual state of rest (not because it’s bad but because you need to let yourself be brave & live a life of both)…this book is for you.
- We can be okay with hard work.
- We can be okay with purposeful rest.
- We can be okay with doing those how we do them best.
- We can be okay with where we are because HE is here with us.
Quote Love ♥ ♥ ♥
“When we begin to slide outside of the healthy aspects of our personality type, driven becomes demanding and image-conscious becomes deceptive.”
“God knows us and sees us as more than one-dimensional beings with a single need, but places us in each season to fill our hearts and to do work for his Kingdom.”
“When I try to make “rest” fit into some box that looks like what someone else is doing, I end up frustrated or lazy.”
