A 31 day journal for the easily overstimulated humans.1
(Because we exist, and we desire to live well. Not just hide well.)
The Dwelling Place has always existed, though I have not always visited.
It is the place we go when we can’t just go.
It is the place where we meet with Holy Spirit.
It is the place where we are stilled.
It is the place which gives us a moment’s peace.
It is the place we live from.
Less escaping. More embracing.
Never closed for the season. Never overbooked.
Never not prepared for our arrival.
Always welcomes with open arms.
This place is not a thing but a face.
our Dwelling Place.
The Dwelling Place | 31 Days of Real Life Getaways
| Day #16
Anxious people sometimes put themselves down for it.
We know we shouldn’t but we came such a long way
to all the sudden fall flat once again.
We said we wouldn’t let our emotions get the best of us.
We tried just being ourselves but it all
quickly came crashing down
when we felt we didn’t
meet the high
So we climbed back up the mountain after rolling down
and throwing our back our on the way down.
On the way down God reach out his arm
in the form of his words, like heaven on
a string, he wove the truths back into
me which had been crowded out by
all the noise of the world.
Just when I felt like giving up,
(because the foothill of the mountain
it seems logical to quit right?)
he won’t let me.
Because I know this life I am living
isn’t just about me.
It’s about the friend in the dark right now.
It’s about my child who’s tear plopped loudly on my thigh
as they confided in me after a hard day.
It’s about the family down the street
who feel like specks on a map.
It’s about the greater whole.
And I may not know this unless I hear.
And I may not know this unless I see.
And one way to see is to READ.
“When things aren’t going well, it’s not the time to give up.” – Jon Acuff from, Finish
Something Jeff Goins said today was this (not verbatim):
Legacy is not about people remembering how great you
were after you are gone. It’s about while living, being a part of something much bigger,
so by the time you are gone, the mission has overshadowed yourself.
So anxiety may exist, but it has not vanquished me. It has not pushed
us so far into the ground we can not come back up.
We will live and breathe with purpose because God says we can,
issues or not.

***Join me each October day for the #write31days event (learn more here) for a gentle fleshing out of the thoughts, as I seek to share journal-style + by poetry, past experiences with anxiety and learning how to live and thrive after discovering about ptsd.
Let’s lean into Truth together.
Let’s trust God moment by moment.
