The smell of jeans and tees brush against the books blank with life inviting,
I am gathering beyond what I should because writers are on my mind.
What if they want a breath mint too or nice, extra strong stick of lead
to jot down on freshly sliced paper what is in their head?
So extras of different things I grab and play Tetris inside of my bag.
Going to bed soon, too late I admit –
but I had to do it on my own without throwing a fit.
Taking my time to plan with care, I pray my GPS gets me there.
Planners and pens, pictures with friends, words that won’t end –
we are collecting things to take abroad. Collecting
memories perfectly flawed. Because we are us, and us is all human.
Let me finish cutting this sharp cheddar and beef, I really need to go to put in some baggies.
No stopping unless I have to. Onward we go.
This was a five minute free write hosted by Kate Motaung of fiveminutefriday.com. We are given a word prompt each week and we run with it like there’s no tomorrow. It is fun, freeing, and less fancy. Take off your heels (if you wear them) and go barefoot with us friend. Our word this week was: COLLECT. The // indicate where the timer began & ended. –#fmfparty link up here–
