A 31 day journal for the easily overstimulated humans.
(Because we exist, and we desire to live well. Not just hide well.)
The Dwelling Place has always existed, though I have not always visited.
It is the place we go when we can’t just go.
It is the place where we meet with Holy Spirit.
It is the place where we are stilled.
It is the place which gives us a moment’s peace.
It is the place we live from.
Less escaping. More embracing.
Never closed for the season. Never overbooked.
Never not prepared for our arrival.
Always welcomes with open arms.
This place is not a thing but a face.
our Dwelling Place.
The Dwelling Place | 31 Days of Real Life Getaways
| Day #19
God, when I am at my low point —
I want to hide from people and either
appear to be strong so I am not a bother —
or hide because I am afraid of what I will say —
that maybe my ugly weakness will sound lacking in faith
and make me bad friend material.
So I keep the inner things to myself and battle them alone —
but all along people may just want to know who I really am.
And they have showed me they care more about who I really am
than a perceived picture painted of who I thought I was supposed to be.
So I come out of hiding by opening the duct work of my heart
and the acceptance and love from others flows through
wildy pumping the ducts with life-filled air.
Opening up isn’t so hard if we know we are accepted
no matter what — and I have been shown this by you and by man.
My life doesn’t have to be defined by my messes, tears, down days
or doubts. My life is in your hands, aflame with life anew.
When I doubt myself and my own faith, you are
still and steady sure.
You remain faithful. Your love is pure.
It pulls me out of the dark corner
which keeps me locked away,
nervous to be who I really am
nervous — I want them to stay.
But you invite me to live fully, and love
and be brave. You say even if they walk away,
YOU are here to stay.
2 Timothy 1:6-7 Living Bible
“This being so, I want to remind you to stir into flame the strength and boldness that is in you, that entered into you when I laid my hands upon your head and blessed you. For the Holy Spirit, God’s gift, does not want you to be afraid of people, but to be wise and strong, and to love them and enjoy being with them.”
Pst…God gave me this verse before I knew what today’s word was. How cool is that?!
