A 31 day journal for the easily overstimulated humans.
(Because we exist, and we desire to live well. Not just hide well.)
The Dwelling Place has always existed, though I have not always visited.
It is the place we go when we can’t just go.
It is the place where we meet with Holy Spirit.
It is the place where we are stilled.
It is the place which gives us a moment’s peace.
It is the place we live from.
Less escaping. More embracing.
Never closed for the season. Never overbooked.
Never not prepared for our arrival.
Always welcomes with open arms.
This place is not a thing but a face.
our Dwelling Place.
The Dwelling Place | 31 Days of Real Life Getaways
| Day #14
Why is it so hard to admit we need one another most times?
Today is a new day and I have a proposition for you.
A way that has helped me trip up anxiety a bit in my own life,
and live with more joy.
Next time you need to get out and about,
or get around humans at all —
don’t try to think too much about what you will say or do.
Don’t try to conjure up an escape action plan for if
your worse case scenario happens to unfold.
Instead TRY this:
Try being yourself, even if it seems messy
for how you “think” a Christian should be.
Try being yourself, even if you are going
to be around people who tend to not hold back
Accept them for them, as you hope to be accepted
for you being you.
Today is a day for trying.
That’s all anyone can do.
And if God is for you, who can be against you?
So if you fail — try not to be too hard on yourself.
Everyone flails and fails at times.

***Join me each October day for the #write31days event (learn more here) for a gentle fleshing out of the thoughts, as I seek to share journal-style + by poetry, past experiences with anxiety and learning how to live and thrive after discovering about ptsd.
Let’s lean into Truth together.
Let’s trust God moment by moment.
